Behavior: A series of uncorrected negative behaviors or one serious incident will result in a “0” citizenship.
0-3 Excused Absences: teacher will determine citizenship grade of 0-4.

Tardiness: After 3 late arrivals, the student will receive no higher than a “1”.
Entrance into class 20 minutes late is an unexcused absence. Please check into the attendance office before coming to class if you have a note. Give all notes to them, not to me.
Leaving class early is an unexcused absence.

Late Work , Partial Work, Rework and Extra Credit
Late Work: Because this is an art class, I want you to take the time that you need to succeed with each piece. We will work on each project for about two weeks. If you need more time than that, that is ok. I will accept work through the end of the quarter, no questions asked. No late fees, penalties or points docked. However, I will not accept work on grading days or after the quarter ends. If you are tardy/absent it is your responsibility to find out what you missed. If you are out for an excused absence, then you still have to make up the work. Partial Work: It’s either done, or it’s not. Sorry- no points for starting something. All the requirements are to be met, or it won’t be graded. Rework: If you didn’t get the grade you feel you deserve, or desire, then come talk to me and find out what you can do better. I encourage you to rework a piece until it looks/feels good. If you do so, I will add additional points to your score. However, simply making another piece of similar quality will not get you any more points. Extra Credit: There is no extra credit, so please don’t ask. Display of Art Work
Part of the curriculum is to publicly display completed artwork. Student work may be shown at various art shows, in hallway displays, in the classroom and on the Taylorsville High School website. All consideration will be given to make students feel comfortable in showing their artwork. Assignment grades will not be publicly displayed. If you agree to create a work for the school, you waive all rights to that piece as it will become part of the school collection. If you leave a work here, it is assumed that you no longer want it, and then it also will become part of the school collection, recycled or thrown away. How This Class is Run:
To Do: 1. Ask Questions. If you don’t understand something- ANYTHING- just ask. 2. Try. I don’t care that you “can’t draw/paint/sculpt/make art”, or that no one in your family could do these things. Just try. 3. Put effort into your work. You should spend about 7 hours on each assignment. 4. Show me your work when it is finished and dry. I won’t grade it if it is on the drying rack, in your folder or still wet. 5. Keep your conversations appropriate. 6. Work on your art in this class, not other homework, unless you have finished with everything. 7. Keep track of your assignments. If you “lose” it, I will ask you to recreate it, even if you were finished. 8. Listen to music. Bring an ipod if you want. But if I can hear it, I will ask you to turn it down. No speakers, just ear buds. I am not responsible, however, for anything that happens to your ipod in this class. 9. Take responsibility for your grade. 10. Fill out a response for each assignment. 11. Follow the Taylorsville Art Dept. Guide for making Art when deciding what to draw/paint. To Avoid: (Do Not Do These Things) 1. Asking for “help” and then stepping aside so I can paint/draw for you. I will show you how to do something on a scratch paper, not on you actual piece. Do not ask me to do your piece for you. 2. Leaving early. I will mark you absent if you do so. Also, if you take the hall pass for extended periods of time (more than 10 minutes), you will also be marked absent. 3. Inviting friends to this class. I don’t care if they “don’t have a class this period”. Unless they are on my list, they are not invited to be here. 4. Expect to receive an “A” just because you complete all your assignments. An “A” means that you have mastered the task, not just completed it. You can complete an assignment without putting forth effort, or following directions, both of which will cause you to lose points. 5. Using a cell phone in class. Don’t do it. It’s just not polite.
